Pain Relief

While my mom was working in a nursing home a few years ago she was doing a patient transfer and somehow hurt her back really bad. She was out of work for a few weeks while her back healed. Well it has never fully healed and to this day if she turns the wrong way or lifts something just right it will cause this old injury to flare up and cause extreme pain. I believe that the Freeze It Gel would be a big help for her as she has tried many different products to help ease the pain. I know that when it does really hurt her she is out for days and then it takes weeks for her to finally feel like she can even stand up straight and with living with us she really misses being able to hold the kids and to play with them. I feel that if I did have the Freeze It Gel on hand she would be the one that I would give it to just so she could have some relief and to try and be as comfortable as possible. After looking at their site and reading about the benefits this product has to offer and all the different types of aliments that it is designed to help, I know that I would even benefit from using Freeze It . They offer 2 different types of application a roll on, or a handy 4 oz. tube which is small and convenient. I know I would feel at ease knowing that she had something that she could use on a daily bases that would help her stand straight and be able to enjoy the daily activities she once enjoyed with out to much pain. After reviewing everything that Freeze It has to offer I feel that it would be something that I most defiantly will have in my medicine box.

I've Been Tagged

I've been tagged by my sis Lacie to list 6 interesting/strange facts about myself. Well here goes

1. I have this problem of talking on the phone, I get really nervous, my hands sweat, I pace, and the thought of calling places IE doctors I just can't do it. Thanks to TJ for being my caller to people. I am doing much better at answering the phone when its people I know. And with all this talking on the phone issues i have I worked at a place where I had to talk on the phone for 8 hrs a day. Don't worry if you call me i'll answer!!

2. As my sister stated in hers that she loves going to cemeteries I actually don't really enjoy them. I have driven through the ones here but as to go and walk around nope and don't even think to get me there at night.....nope won't happen.

3. I love to sew and knit. I don't do it as often as I would like to with 2 kids having to be right in the middle of it all. I really want to learn to use a pattern to make clothing for the kids but I have yet to start. Maybe one day

4. I have this appreciation for anyone who does scrapbooking!! I have wanted to learn and start doing it but have never felt creative enough to start or the money. I have looked in to digital scrapbooking which is something I probably could do but don't know where to start.

5. I love photography and really want to get into it more. I wish I could find my manual for my camera and start to really study the different settings and be able to photoshop or what not to them to make them look cool.

6. I love playing the piano and the opportunity to play for our primary. The only down side to this is that I have to play in front of our branch for our primary program and I get really and I mean really nervous playing in front of people. I"m scared to death to play next week and I am really praying that it at least sounds somewhat good. I'll update everyone on how it goes next week sometime.

So here are the rules if you would like to join in!!
RULES:

1. List 6 facts/habits about yourself. Choose 6 you haven't posted about before!
2. Tag new people, go to their blog and let them know, then post rules to the game.

Car Quotes

As our family keeps growing and growing, we are going to need a new car soon and for me the sooner the better. I have checked online quite a few times as we have started the process of looking for a bigger car for us and at carsblvd.com they offer quotes, loans and more all in one spot!! As I have been looking my dream van would be a Honda Odyessy and with there Honda Car Quote it would be quite easy to get a quote for this. And if Honda isn't your first choice they will give you up to 2 quotes for FREE. Its nice to know that you can go to one place and have the dealers compete for business instead of being hounded by the sales people at a car dealership. And at carsblvd.com they offer wholesale prices so you will never have to pay full price on any car you choose from them.

What are your??

What are your Thanksgiving plans?? We are going to just stay home and vegg and eat lots of turkey and probaby watch the Macy's day Thanksgiving Parade and most likely a football game to please the husband. We are planning on doing Thanksgiving dinner on Wednesday because TJ has to work Thursday night but will have Wednesday night off and so we switched so he could help cook and not have to worry about sleeping and going to work. So I hope all have a great thanksgiving!!!

so sick

I am so sick of being sick, It all started with Tanner getting a nasty cough but nothing else, and it lasted a week or so. Then I ended up with the cough and after a week or so it went away but the the other night I woke up to a stuffy nose, and everything else. I just feel lousy and now Makena is coughing and Tanner has a yucky nose. AHHHHHHH Can't we just have one winter where we aren't sick. We were all sick last winter as well. Ok rant over and i'm going to go take something to help clear up mynose so I can breath

Stand Mixer

With all the recipes I use today a lot require some type of mixer to use especially the desserts that I make. As a kid growing up we did have a hand held mixer that wasn't very easy to use once you started adding in the flour and ended up having to use your hands to get the rest of the flour mixed it. Well as I grew older I come across this wonderful recipe for Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies and as it makes quite a bit it is not the easiest recipe to use with a hand held mixer or stirring by hand but with the Hamilton Beach® Stand Mixer would make this job super easy. I wanted to share this great recipe with you

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies
1cup shortening
2 cups white sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1(15 ounce) can pumpkin puree
4 cups all purpose flour
1 ½ teaspoon baking soda
1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 pinch ground nutmeg
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees, Grease cookie sheets

In a large bowl, cream together the shortening and white sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Stir in the vanilla and pumpkin until well blended. Combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg; stir into the pumpkin mixture. Mix in the chocolate chips. Stir in the walnuts if desired. Drop by teaspoon to prepared cookie sheet.

Bake for 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven, till edges are nicely brown. Allow to cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet then remove and place on wire rack to cool completely.

I have really enjoyed using different mixers during my life and I feel that the Hamilton Beach® Mixer would be the best choice for us. With their mixer they have the ability to mix 9 dozen cookies, or 4 1lb loafs of bread. I am sure that there isn’t another mixer out there that would be able to stand up to that type of mixing. I do have a mixer and I’m currently pleased with how it performs but I know that it won’t last forever and when we do look in to getting a new mixer I’m defiantly going to be looking at the Eclectrics® Mixer

Folk Festival

Each year they have a Folk Festival up at the lake so after TJ working all night he so kindly stayed up so that we could take a drive and go see what they had to offer!!! We had so much fun and the kids got to dip some candles which Makena was totally excited about! We also bought the kids Christmas ornaments so they would have something unique on the tree this year (Makena got a pine cone Angel and Tanner picked a Snowman Okra). We also picked up some honey which I'm excited to try as its dark honey and is suppose to be better for you. They had a petting zoo for the little kids and my kids thought that was the best thing and they were both so good with the animals.

Waiting for dad to use the restroom

Riding the tractor tram from the parking lot up to the visitor center

The Petting Zoo

Makena turning the handle of a 1907 sewing machine

After we got back down to where we had parked our car the kids wanted to go play on the playground that they have there next to the river.

I climbed on after the little girl got off so I could spin and swing the kids, so I thought I would take a pic of the kids while spinning, the one of tanner didn't turn out but this one of Makena I think is way cool

Lacie these pictures are for you!!! Wasn't this the outfit that Remi was wearing when Asia was born??? If not I can't believe how cute they both look in it!!

Alzheimer's Foundation eStore

With all the things going on in this world lately one of the things that is scariest to me is not remembering things that happened recently. With the Alzheimer's Foundation they are doing as much as they can to help raise money for a cure. We can do our part in helping to find a cure by getting some of our holiday gifts by purchasing some of there items in their eStore. They offer many great ideas for family members who might just be a little difficult to find that perfect gift, with there Heart of Cares Jewelry, its very classy and beautiful. They also offer a 2008 calender that features panels there Quilt to Remember who pays respect to those who have passed or are living with dementia, and their families, so that others can recognize the reality and enormity of this disease, and acknowledge that we stand united for optimal care and a cure. With all proceeds going to benefit the Alzheimer's Foundation of America. With these products, the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America hopes to raise awareness and enhance knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease and related illnesses. While they don't have a cure its nice to know that quality care for those who suffer from the disease must not be overlooked, so the holidays are a good time to gift a donation or buy a gift from the eStore.
Those contributions that are made from donations or purchases from there eStore go to help those who are suffering from this disease by providing the quality of care that the patients need, they also offer lots of help for those who are needing information on the disease.

WOW

Is all i have to say for myself. About 2 weeks or so ago I received some Amish friendship bread starter to make, 10 days later we made our first batch of bread and gave 3 more starters away to friends, well today was the day to make bread again and I'm happy to say that I did it and I'm going to keep one of the starters so I can make bread again in 10 days!!!!! I have never kept with something like this in a while and I love how my house smells while it is baking!! Yummy. I also made Sweet Pork yesterday in the crock pot and it turned out very good. Thanks Natalie for the recipe that i'll pass it along to everyone.

Sweet Pork
4-5 lb. Pork Roast

Cover 1/2 way with water & cook on low in a crock pot for 6 hours, (you can also use a roasting pan & cook it for 6 hours at 275 degrees.)

Drain liquid & add:

1 Can regular Coke (we used a 20 oz bottle of Coke)
1 large bottle of Red Taco Sauce (we used the Taco Bell brand)
1 Cup Brown Sugar
1 tsp. Cumin

Cook for another three hours on low & shred meat.

It makes quite a bit and it even tastes better the next day as the meat has had even more time to soak up the juices and gives it more flavor!!

I feel very happy with myself and I am hoping that I can only improve on this, its been a very good week for me, i've kept up on the kids mess and Makena has improved on helping keep her room picked up!!! Maybe i'm a better mother then I thought but I still have a ways to go.

:)

NYC

With having a husband from New York I can't wait till we can go to the city and just explore and to see some of the great attractions. With this New York CityPass it would make it a lot cheaper to see some of these places. And with the holidays coming up it would be a great gift for family that would like to see some of the sites like the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), and the American Museum of Natural History and a trip to the top of the Empire State Building observatory and something that I have always wanted to see other then in an airplane is the Manhattan Skyline from the water aboard a Circle Line Sightseeing Cruise. This pass also allows you to bypass the main entrance ticketing lines so you are able to see these places faster for young kids they won't get bored standing in line just waiting. With it being sold at 50% off the retail price of $130.00 the $65 dollar price is something really worth looking into. The New York CityPass winter special runs starts December 15th and runs through March 15 so with 3 full months to use these coupons you would be able to go anytime that is best for you.

Tanners Appointment

We finally got Tanner in to see the doctor for his checkup. (I was a bad mom and didn't take him in since his 6-9 month appointment) Anyways we took him in to the Health Center as they are able to do it cheaper if not free and right now that is perfect for us. I was so happy to hear that he is doing great and he checked out wonderfully!!! He now weights 22lbs 12ozs and is 32 1/4 inches long with a head of 19 inches!!!! He is such a trooper, they had to give him 4 shots to get him caught up to where he should be for his age and they also gave him an anemia test as well. He did so good for that test and didn't even shed a tear even though they had to prick his finger (I think he found it fascinating actually). Then came the shots and oh boy did the tears fall. But over all he did a great job and didn't cry for very long afterwards and was just fine when we went and found Kena and dad in the waiting room. Funny story about Makena, she did fine while in the room with us as the doc was doing her stuff well she left to get the shots ready and that set off makena. When she got back all Makena would say is "shots are scary" "I don't like shots" and so on. Well TJ took her back to the waiting room and she was much better after that. Silly girl!!!! We do have to go back in 6 months to get the next hep A (i think its that one).

Garage Floor Coverings

I know with our garage floor in Utah we needed something to put down so that it looked much better then just plain ol' concrete. I wish we were still there so that we could have put something nice down to help it last longer. At www.carguygarage.com they have great choices on
garage flooring with different tiles to choose from you would be able to create any pattern you like in pretty much any color you like and with it being very durable it will hope up to any abuse you would do to it. They also offer an epoxy to put down on your newer concrete that will help it last longer. Hopefully one day we will own a house again with a garage I would love to see something like this in our garage to help and protect from the normal wear and tear,

Go Patriots!!!

Many may know or don't know that my husband is a HUGE football fan, and his favorite team is the New England Patriots! Well on our recent trip to Texarkana to get his glasses fixed we went to some craft stores to get some material for my SIL's baby blanket. Well the first store we went to didn't have what I was looking for but TJ found exactly what he wanted and he wasn't even looking for it!! He found some Flannel with the Patriots all over it!! Yep he wanted a tie blanket and I said I would make it. He wanted it big and I mean big so we ended up with 3 Yards of the stuff as well as a solid color. I spend my Saturday while Tanner slept getting the blanket all lined up and ready to cut the strips to tie. Makena was such a big help and really enjoyed cuddling with it while TJ slept. I'm happy to say that the Patriots beat the Colts 24-20 and that my blanket was a big hit for him and the kids.

Emergency Preparedness

With living in tornado alley I have been feeling like I am way under prepared if a tornado actually did come through this area. I’m happy to know that someone out there has created a site for just this thing. At www.1800prepare.com they have everything you need to get yourself prepared for any kind of emergency that might happen in your area. There are many reasons that we should be prepared because we have no idea what will happen in the future. With having an emergency preparedness kit we would be able to help our family and friends, it would also take the pressure off the emergency responders who would be able to help those who are in critical need, and it would also give us peace of mind knowing that we would have the things we need to survive.
Are you ready for an emergency. Click here to get prepared if you can’t answer this question with a yes like me, then check out this site and let’s get ourselves prepared!!

Halloween Fun

We had so much fun this year and even with Makena havinga hard time even going to the halloweeen isle in Walmart we had a success last night!!!! Makena really wanted to be a princess so while we were looking for costumes she saw the Aurora dress and that was it, she wanted to be Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, and had to have the crown and shoes to top off the whole outfit! So here are a few of her in her finest!!

And Tanner he really didn't care what he wanted to be but everytime I held up a costum he would say no but once I held up the Superman he was all for it so maybe he really did care!! He had so much fun dressing up so here he is in his Superman!

Makena is just standing outside the frame of the camera but you can see her hand and part of her dress, Must be his superman instincts of needed to help a princess?? Or maybe its a brother trying to get even with his sister??

I did my best to get the kids to sit together or just stand by each other to get pictures of them next to each other but at least I got a few good ones!!

Makena and Tanner showing off some of there loot.

Here we are walking with the kids from house to house trick or treating!! They had so much fun that we ended up skipping our church activity. So over all it was a much better halloween then last year and I'm hoping that each year is better and better!!!

iFloor

With this day in age many people are turning to online business to get many of their flooring needs. With all the warranty claim es that are being denied because they were purchased on line iFLOOR has added up to $1,000,000 warranty protection to all iFloor customers. With this they reserve the right to seek legal justice on behalf of their customers. To learn more about this please read on.

iFLOOR, America's largest online flooring retailer, today announced a $1,000,000 limited warranty designed to protect its customers from predatory manufacturer policies that exclude warranty coverage from online purchases.

The policy, which goes into effect immediately, offers up to one million dollars of coverage in the event that a customer's warranty claim is denied specifically because they made their purchase online. It is complimentary for every iFLOOR customer, and protects the buyer under the same terms as the original product warranty.

iFLOOR, Inc. CEO, Steve Simonson, came up with the program to combat "scare tactics" used by manufacturers of hardwood floors and laminate flooring. "Their idea is to discourage you from buying at a discount!" wrote Simonson in his blog "It's About Flooring". "This is not right! You deserve to save money! So we're going to take care of this problem once and for all."

And it would appear that federal law is on his side. Section 108 of the 1975 Magnuson-Moss Act, states that, "In general, tie-in sales provisions are not allowed. Such a provision would require a purchaser of the warranted product to buy an item or service from a particular company to use with the warranted product in order to be eligible to receive a remedy under the warranty."

Under iFLOOR's new warranty, a key provision allows for iFLOOR to "seek justice" on behalf of the customer in the event of legal action. According to Simonson, "I'm putting iFLOOR's money where my mouth is."

About iFLOOR, Inc.
Since 1998, iFLOOR.com has been the leading online and retail flooring company, with 36 local retail stores nationwide offering more than 70,000 products, including hardwood floors, laminate flooring, bamboo flooring and cork floors. iFLOOR.com is the largest online flooring retailer according to Internet Retailer Magazine, and was named by Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest growing private companies in the United States for the past three years. Committed to quality customer service, superior selection and friendly expert advice, iFLOOR.com enables customers to buy flooring both online and in its retail stores at a substantial savings over traditional retailers.
